Holmby Hills Homeowners Association

It has been brought to the Holmby Hills Homeowners Association’s attention that a panhandler often frequents the intersection at Sunset and Beverly asking for money.

Additionally, this gentleman has been seen putting trash in the open road as a possible tactic to get cars to slow down or stop (and/or is just being careless). Regardless of the intent, this is becoming a hazard not only to drivers in a highly-congested traffic area, but to himself.

We have contacted the police for recommendations to handle this matter and the following was the response:

“If he is creating a hazard or engaging in aggressive or criminal behavior, the police should be notified. Based on his actions or behavior at the time of the incident, either the Non-Emergency Dispatch (1-877-275-5273) or Emergency Dispatch (911), should be called. Ideally, motorists should not give him any money or food. As long as the location continues to be lucrative for him, he will continue to return to that location.”

Therefore, should anyone experience what the officer relayed above, please take the appropriate suggested action.

Thank you in advance for your efforts on this matter.
